Danny Whitaker is hoping Chesterfield can cause an upset in the Carling Cup by dumping out Middlesbrough.
The Spireites made the perfect start to the new season on Saturday as they secured a 2-1 opening day win over Barnet.
Their focus has now turned to midweek cup duties and midfield ace Whitaker is setting his sights on a notable scalp.
He told skysports.com: "We'll go into the game full of confidence and with nothing to lose.
"We do well against the better teams in our league who like to play football - while kick and rush is difficult to combat. We have a lot of players who like to play football in our squad."
And the 29-year-old hopes to enhance his already impressive scoring ratio in the competition.
Whitaker has found the net on six occasions in 14 games played in the League Cup under its different guises.
That record includes a 14-minute hat-trick in extra-time for former club Macclesfield Town against Barnsley in 2002, and he also managed to score against Championship outfit Sheffield United a year later.
Whitaker continued: "I wasn't fully aware of my good record in the League Cup, but hopefully that will be continue to be the case against Middlesbrough.
"A clean sheet would of course be nice, but as long as we can put in a good shift and let them know they've been in a game we will hope the rest takes care of itself."
