Skysports.com understands Aston Villa defender Nicky Shorey is in talks with Premier League rivals West Brom.
West Brom have lined a deal to bring out-of-favour Shorey to the Hawthorns as Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo looks to bolster his squad before the start of the season.
Villa are willing to offload Shorey with the former Reading man not figuring in Martin O'Neill's long-term plans.
Shorey made only three Premier League starts last season and spent spells on loan at Nottingham Forest and Fulham.
Forest were keen on bringing him back to the City Ground before switching their attentions to Chelsea youngster Ryan Bertrand.
West Brom are now ready to end Shorey's disappointing spell at Villa Park by taking him to the Hawthorns.
Shorey is believed to be currently at West Brom for talks and if all goes to plan he could become Di Matteo's latest signing.
