According to De Rossi, the club have made it clear they intend to keep him on, while he has no desire to leave.

The Italy international has been at the club since July 2001 and is confident his stay will be extended beyond his current contract.

De Rossi has been linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but he still has two years left on his existing deal and has no intention of leaving.

No problem

"I think the renewal of the contract is not a problem as my president has so far refused any offer to let me go," he told Corriere Dello Sport.

"Renew it when it expires - that seems to be the logical thing to do."

De Rossi revealed he had held talks with Giallorossi president Rosella Sensi towards the end of last season.

He added: "I went into her study to speak for an hour - her, me and nobody else. Nothing ever leaked out from it.

"Our relationship, but in general the relationship between me and Roma, is confirmed every day on the pitch. There is mutual esteem, as the club has consistently refused any offers for me."
