Preston have handed new and improved deals to promising youngsters Adam Barton and Danny Mayor.
The homegrown duo are rated highly at Deepdale and their new deals tie them to the club until 2013.
North End boss Darren Ferguson admits he has been impressed by the pair since he joined the club midway through last season.
"First and foremost they have earned the contracts by the form that they showed towards the end of last season and obviously this pre-season," Ferguson told the club's official website.
"They are going to be valuable members of the squad. I think we have indicated that we are trying to get more players through and there are others behind Danny and Adam.
"They are the future of the football club and I am delighted to get them new contracts."
