Crewe manager Dario Gradi has rejected talk of Joel Grant leaving the club this summer.

The 22-year-old winger, who has recently been suffering from an illness which has curtailed his participation in pre-season training, has been linked with a move away from Gresty Road.

Rumours have linked the former Watford man with a switch to a rival League Two club, but Gradi insists that Grant is going nowhere and remains part of his plans for the forthcoming campaign.

"I know nothing about any rumours concerning Joel Grant," he told the club's official website.

"No one has spoken to me about Joel and I have no intention of letting him go.

"He has terrific skill and every manager who has ever worked with him will tell you that. It is just a question of him realising his potential.

"Joel loves his football and if we can get him creating and scoring the number of goals he should, then we all know he will be knocking on the door."
