Slovakian keeper signs two-year deal after successful loan

Hearts have completed the signing of Marian Kello on a free transfer from Lithuanian side FBK Kaunas. The Slovakian goalkeeper has signed a two-year deal at Tynecastle and will compete with Janos Balogh and Jamie MacDonald for a starting berth. The 27-year-old keeper has spent the last two years on loan at the Gorgie club, making 30 appearances for the Jambos. "We are delighted everything is sorted out," Hearts manager Jim Jefferies told the club's official website. "Since I came in (in January), he has impressed me and I think the club has three very good goalkeepers now.

Favoured choice

"There is very little between them and they work hard with Arturas [Ramoska, goalkeeping coach] so it is very difficult to know who the number one is, but Marian was the more favoured one last year. "He had a bit of an injury problem and he's now had the game against Millwall so there's a couple of games to assess who will be the number one." Hearts beat the second-division English outfit 3-2 on Saturday and face Premier League sides Wolves and Blackburn before the big kick-off at home to St Johnstone on 14th August.
