Defender set for Rangers exit

Skysports.com understands Bristol City are closing in on the signing of Queens Park Rangers defender Damion Stewart. Robins boss Steve Coppell is keen to bolster his defensive options and he has targeted a move for Jamaica international Stewart. The move for Stewart is thought to be part of the deal that sees Bradley Orr make the switch to Loftus Road. Coppell has been searching for a new central defender after losing Jamie McCombe earlier this summer and Stewart's arrival will help fill the void. City have also been linked with a move for Ipswich's Northern Ireland international Gareth McAuley as Coppell looks to bring in some much-needed reinforcements. Stewart could be the first of three new faces at Ashton Gate with Coppell hoping to tie up moves for England goalkeeper David James and Bolton full-back Nicky Hunt.
