Cagliari's pre-season friendly against Bastia was abandoned after 75 minutes after repeated fights between rival players.
The Sardinian Serie A outfit were leading 3-0 against their opponents from the neighbouring island of Corsica when the referee called a halt to the match.
The Italian side confirmed the fixture had been called off in a statement on their official website.
Italy international goalkeeper Federico Marchetti was left out of the Cagliari side after being told he can move on this summer.
Marchetti, who featured at the World Cup this summer, is reported to have been attracting interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
