R's winger sidelined for two months

QPR's Lee Cook will miss the start of the Championship season after being told to rest and rebuild the strength in his knee. The 27-year-old has suffered a succession of knee problems in recent years and missed much of last season following keyhole surgery. While the club have stressed he not suffered a recurrence of the injury, he will need to undergo an intensive rehabilitation programme. Manager Neil Warnock was hoping to have Cook available for the start of the campaign and has expressed his disappointment at the fresh blow.

Disappointed

"We're disappointed for the lad," Warnock told the club's official website. "It appears he wasn't given the right advice regarding his rehabilitation and he could be out for a couple of months now. "He doesn't require another operation but he needs to rest up for quite a significant period of time."
