Defender Jim McNulty has joined Scunthorpe on a six-month loan deal from Brighton.

As revealed by skysports.com earlier, the left-back's stay with the club lasts until 3rd January and he becomes United manager Nigel Adkins' fifth signing of the summer.

McNulty, 25, had a brief spell on loan at Glanford Park towards the end of last season and impressed Adkins during his time with the club.

The Iron moved into the market for a left-back after seeing Marcus Williams leave to join Reading and McNulty was always their top target.

McNulty had expressed his desire to return to Scunthorpe and now both clubs have agreed a six-month loan switch.
