Coventry City midfielder Gary Deegan is facing a long spell on the sidelines after suffering a stress fracture to his ankle.
Deegan, who joined the Sky Blues from Bohemians in January, picked up the injury during the club's pre-season preparations.
The 22-year-old could now be out for four months and Coventry boss Aidy Boothroyd expressed his sympathy for Deegan's plight.
"I am disappointed for Gary as I was looking forward to him getting a good pre-season like the rest of the lads," Boothroyd told the club's official website.
"But we are looking at three or four months out.
"He will be desperate to get back and we will have to manage that, but he will be like having a new signing when he returns."
