The 25-year-old has penned a two-year contract with the Whites and moves to Elland Road after spending seven years at the Valley.

Interest in Sam was high after his Addicks contract expired, but he has opted to move to Leeds, the city where he was born, to play Championship football next term, after talks revealed by

He told the club's official website: "My contract had ended and I wanted to get back to playing in the Championship.

"I was looking at a few Championship options, and started talking with Leeds. I am hoping to get in the team and I hope we can be in and around the play-offs.

"I'm buzzing and I'm looking forward to getting started and getting to know the lads."

Sam becomes manager Simon Grayson's sixth signing of the summer as he looks to build a squad capable of a good campaign in the second-tier following Leeds' promotion from League One last season.

Sam, who made 43 league appearances for Charlton last year, will travel with the squad for their pre-season tour of Slovakia and Grayson is pleased to have him onboard.

He added: "Lloyd is another good addition to our squad.

"He has plenty of experience, he has played at Championship level, and he is hungry and keen to do well.

"We're delighted to get things finalised and welcome him aboard before we go out to Slovakia."
