Skysports.com understands Southend are poised to sign Barry Corr and Adebayo Akinfenwa.
New Southend boss Paul Sturrock is keen to bolster his squad at Roots Hall after taking over from Steve Tilson and has lined up moves for the two free agents.
Akinfenwa is available on a free transfer after he turned down a new deal at Northampton, while Corr was released by Exeter at the end of last season.
Sturrock knows all about Corr having worked with the Irishman during his time at Sheffield Wednesday and Swindon and he is keen to be reunited with him.
The signing of Akinfenwa would come as a major boost to Southend as a number of clubs have been chasing the former Swansea hit-man.
