Sheffield United are in talks to sign Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy, skysports.com understands.
Skysports.com revealed in June that The Blades were leading the pursuit for the experienced stopper.
The 29-year-old finished last season on loan at Bramall Lane and now United boss Kevin Blackwell wants to secure his permanent signature.
A number of clubs are interested, but The Blades are now in talks with Sunderland about a deal.
Blackwell had initially insisted that, although interested, he thought Nosworthy would be too expensive.
But Sunderland are understood to have lowered their initial demands and Sheffield United are now hopeful they will soon seal a deal.
