Oldham Athletic have won the race to land Ritchie Jones, skysports.com can reveal.
Jones opted to leave Hartlepool United at the end of the season, and a host of clubs were interested.
Both Championship and League One clubs were battling it out for the former Manchester United trainee.
And Jones has opted for a move back to Lancashire and signed a two-year deal with the Latics.
Jones' representative Peter Morrison was full of praise for Oldham's new manager Paul Dickov.
"It was Oldham's ambition and vision that won the day, as Ritchie had a number of options," Morrison told skysports.com.
"The enthusiasm of Paul Dickov was fantastic, they are committed to the cause at Oldham and have some big plans.
"As soon as Ritchie talked with them, it did not take long for him to agree to the move."
