Swindon have signed former Leeds and Southampton midfelder David Prutton on a free transfer.
As revealed by skysports.com last month Swindon had lined up a deal for Prutton after his short-term deal at Colchester expired.
Colchester were keen to sign Prutton on a permanent basis, but Prutton has opted to sign a two-year deal at League One rivals Swindon.
Swindon boss Danny Wilson believes Prutton will prove a key addition to his side as they look to mount another promotion bid next season.
"David has got great pedigree, and he wants to do well with us," said Wilson.
"The squad we've got here is a very strong one and he'll fit into the way we want to play very well.
"He knows some of the boys already but I'm sure he'll slot into the squad nicely anyway."
