Doncaster are closing in on the signing of Billy Sharp from Championship rivals Sheffield United.
Sharp enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Keepmoat Stadium last season and Doncaster have been keen to make the move a permanent arrangement.
Burnley looked set to beat Doncaster to Sharp's signature last month after agreeing a fee with United, but the striker snubbed the chance to move to Turf Moor.
Doncaster have now stepped up their interest in Sharp and are ready to make the 24-year-old their club record signing.
Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll is hopeful of finalising a deal for Sharp and admits his signing would be a major coup for the club.
"Hopefuly we can do a deal with Sheffield United over Billy and that's ongoing," O'Driscoll told Sky Sports News.
"That will be a major coup for us and then we just have to strengthen one or two areas, but we did really well in loan maket last year so that is where we may look."
