Sunderland target John Mensah is not keen on a return to parent club Lyon after the World Cup.
The centre-back moved on loan to the Black Cats at the start of last season with a view to a permanent deal, but injury problems have led to manager Steve Bruce wanting the player on pay-as-you-play terms.
The 27-year-old is currently helping Ghana fly the African flag in the knockout phase of the World Cup and Lyon are not thought to be willing to make a decision over his future until after the tournament is over.
But Mensah, who is under contract at Lyon until 2013, is unsure whether he wants to return to the French outfit.
He told L'Equipe: "I have been sent on loan at Sunderland but now it is over.
"Sunderland want me to stay but no one at Lyon has told me any news.
"They could have called me, but I don't think they really want to see me again and I am not sure I am keen to rejoin them."
