Skysports.com understands former Bristol Rovers defender Aaron Lescott could be on his way to Walsall.
The 31-year-old is currently a free agent having been released by the Pirates at the end of the season and is in the market for a new club.
Lescott, older brother of Manchester City's Joleon, made 24 League One appearances for Rovers last term before going on loan to Cheltenham.
He played eight times for the Robins as they narrowly avoided relegation out of the Football League by just four points.
The former Aston Villa trainee will link up with Walsall for pre-season training next week and if he impresses, could be handed a contract.
Walsall finished League One in mid-table last season and Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings could be persuaded to add Lescott to his ranks.
