Hearts could have Andrew Driver fit in time for the start of the season following successful knee surgery.
The 22-year-old has returned to Scotland after going under the knife in Sweden this week in a bid to eliminate the tendinitis which caused havoc to his campaign last year.
The winger, who made just 11 league starts last term, will not join Heart's pre-season trip to Italy and he will instead begin his recovery programme under the supervision of the SPL club's medical staff.
"The operation was a success and the surgeon was quite happy with the way everything went," assistant manager Billy Brown told Hearts News.
"Andrew will now get on with his rehab and that means he won't be in Italy with the rest of the players. He will stay here in Edinburgh and work on his rehabilitation.
"He's a generally fit boy and he'll be working hard to get back for the start of the season."
