John Mousinho has turned down a new contract at Wycombe Wanderers amid reports the midfielder is set to join Stevenage.
The 24-year-old, who made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Chairboys last season, was offered a new deal in May.
However, Wanderers manager Gary Waddock has confirmed Mousinho is leaving the club, with a move to League Two new boys Stevenage seemingly his likely destination having been linked strongly with the switch.
Waddock told Wycombe's official website: "We wanted to keep John, but he's decided to go elsewhere. It's an open secret where he's going.
"Our focus (now) is on players who want to play for this football club, and we will strive to build a squad that is capable of challenging at the right end of the table."
Waddock also revealed his disappointment at missing out on Aldershot midfielder Scott Donnelly, who opted to join Swansea, but he is confident of bolstering his squad in the very near future.
He added: "We are hoping to finalise a couple of deals in the next few days. It's one of those where you want to bring in the right quality, but you can miss someone you would like to sign."
