Sheffield United left-back Jordan Stewart has opted to try his luck overseas by joining Greek club Skoda Xanthi.
The 28-year-old has left the Blades by mutual consent after making 23 appearances for the Championship outfit last season.
The former Leicester and Watford defender joined United from Derby last summer in a swap deal with Lee Hendrie.
Blades boss Kevin Blackwell must now begin the search for a new left-back and hailed Stewart's contribution in his year at Bramall Lane.
"Jordan was a 100% trier and I wish him well in this new part of his career," said Blackwell.
"But his departure opens up possibilities for us and I'm considering options to provide competition and depth in the left-back position."
Xanthi have a multi-national squad and finished 13th in the Greek top flight last season, just a point above the drop zone.
Watford striker Nathan Ellington spent the second half of last season on loan with Xanthi, scoring four goals in 10 games.
