Napoli have played down talk that they have agreed a deal to sign Brazil striker Fred.
Reports had suggested Fred was set to make a move to Napoli from Fluminense after agreeing terms on a switch.
Napoli's sporting director, Riccardo Bigon, admits Fred is a target for the club, but insists any deal is far from being agreed for the former Lyon ace.
"We have not yet reached any agreement for Fred," Bigon told Sky Sports Italia.
"It's true that he is an important player we are tracking, along with other targets. We have had meetings, but nothing is concluded.
"Besides, at the moment we do not even have any non-EU slots available to be filled.
"I'm pleased the player has enthusiasm for us, but I must deny the end of this negotiation."
