Massimo Maccarone has expressed his delight after agreeing a three-year deal with Palermo.
The striker decided to called time on his spell at Siena following their relegation from Serie A and a number of clubs were interested in securing his services.
But Maccarone will be playing in Sicily next season after Europa League qualifiers Palermo won the chase for his signature.
The former Middlesbrough man is excited about the opportunity and hopes to justify the faith shown in him by his new employers.
"I'm really happy to be here," said the 30-year-old.
"Other clubs were looking for me, but I chose Palermo because they showed they wanted me at any cost."
