Adriano has undergone a medical at Roma ahead of his return to Italy and is to be officially unveiled on Wednesday.
The Serie A outfit have called a press conference for 5pm local time at which they are expected to announce the signing.
No further details of the deal have yet been announced, as Roma continue to play their cards close to their chest.
It is, however, expected that negotiations will pass without a hitch and Adriano will put pen to paper on a long-term contract.
Break
He will join the capital club as a free agent after seeing his deal with Brazilian side Flamengo expire.
Adriano had headed back to his homeland in May 2009 after agreeing to have his contract with Inter Milan terminated.
Personal problems blighted his time at Giuseppe Meazza and he felt he needed a break from European football to get his career back on track.
The 28-year-old, who has also turned out for Fiorentina, Parma and Sao Paulo, is now set to seal a sensational return to Serie A and will be hoping to make his mark in 2010/11.
