Barnsley have completed the signing of Serbian midfielder Goran Lovre from FC Groningen on a two-year deal.
Tykes boss Mark Robins fended off competition from both the Premier League and Championship for the services of Lovre, who becomes his third summer signing.
The attacking midfielder spent eight years at Belgian side Anderlecht, where he graduated from the youth set up.
"I'm very pleased to have signed Goran Lovre," Robins said.
"He will be a great addition to the squad and will give us something extra going forward and will also get us goals.
"Beating off the interest from other clubs in the Premier League and Championship shows that we're ambitious. He's bought into our plans and wants to be part of that at Oakwell."
Lovre has spent the last four seasons at FC Groningen, who this season finished eighth in the Dutch Eredivisie.
He also has experience of Champions League and Uefa Cup football, and had been attracting the interest of various English clubs since December.
