Skysports.com understands that Daniel Bogdanovic is attracting attention from several clubs despite ongoing talks with Sheffield United.
Bogdanovic is available as a free agent after his contract with Barnsley expired at the end of the 2009/10 campaign and he turned down their offers of a new deal.
Sheffield United revealed last week that they were holding negotiations with the 30-year-old, who represents Malts at international level.
The discussions have continued and the Blades will be hopeful of securing his services.
But Sheffield United face a fight for his signature as a number of other clubs are also understood to be interested.
Relegated Premier League duo Burnley and Hull City, as well as Swansea, are thought to be keen on Bogdanovic.
Clubs in Italy and Greece are also monitoring the situation.
