Andy Webster has hailed the news that Rangers manager Walter Smith is staying at the helm for another season.
Smith had been working without a contract, but has now penned a one-year deal with a view to retiring next summer.
With all the financial uncertainty surrounding the SPL giants, Webster says it is great news that Smith's future has been resolved.
"It's important for the football club and gives us a bit of stability," explained Webster.
"The manager knows what it takes to win and I'm sure all the players are happy with it.
"The players who have worked under the manager for the last few years will all be delighted he is staying at the club."
Webster enjoyed a season to remember on loan with Dundee United after helping the team secure the Scottish Cup and he is relishing the new campaign with Gers.
"I had a great season last year and I'm looking forward to the season ahead," he concluded.
