Derby end interest in Dutch defender

Derby County will not be pursuing their interest in Dutch defender Danny Buijs, the club have revealed. The ADO Den Haag captain had been a target for Rams for some time, with boss Nigel Clough having watched him in action on two separate occasions this season. Buijs' versatility appealed to the Championship club, as he is able to operate at full-back or in midfield. However, Derby failed to reach an agreement with his current employers and will now turn their attention to other targets. They are currently well-stocked in the right-back department and feel there is no need to enter into a transfer battle. John Brayford was drafted in from Crewe Alexandra to cover that position last week, while Dean Leacock, Russell Anderson and Paul Green can all fill in if required. "We have failed to agree terms and the manager now feels he has sufficient options at right-back, so will not be pursuing the deal any further," said a spokesman for the Rams.
