Scotland boss Craig Levein has hinted that David Goodwillie could be set for an international call-up.
The Dundee United striker is fresh from an eye-catching 2009/10 campaign, in which he tasted Scottish Cup glory.
His exploits at Tannadice have seen him thrust into the spotlight, with calls for him to be drafted into the national squad generating plenty of support.
Levein admits he would be foolish to overlook a player in such good form and has revealed that the 21-year-old will be taken into consideration when the 2012 European Championship qualifiers roll around in September.
Problem
"David is starting to blossom and we've got a dearth of strikers," Levein told the Scottish Sun.
"There is not a million players out there and if he keeps screwing the nut then he's got a real chance.
"It's not that I'm not happy with the strikers we've got because I am. The problem is there aren't enough of them.
"Having that comfort of strength in depth is important."
