Sheffield United have revealed that they are in talks with Barnsley striker Daniel Bogdanovic.
Reports on Thursday suggested the Maltese frontman had already agreed a switch to Bramall Lane, but the Blades have been quick to play down such talk.
They are keen on bringing the 30-year-old on board and are confident that an agreement can be reached but insist no deal has been struck as yet.
Bogdanovic is available as a free agent after seeing his contract at Barnsley expire at the end of the 2009/10 campaign and turning down their offers of a new deal.
He is believed to have drawn attention from a number of clubs, having quickly adapted to life in England after joining the Tykes in January 2009.
Negotiations
A respectable strike rate during his time at Oakwell has shown that he is more than capable of holding his own in the Championship, with an imposing frame making him a handful for opposition defences.
Bogdanovic has admitted that he would like to remain in Yorkshire after severing ties with Barnsley and Sheffield United hope that will work in their favour.
"Reports that Barnsley striker Daniel Bogdanovic has singed for the Blades are premature," read a statement released on the club's
official website.
"The Maltese international, who lives in Sheffield, is out of contract at Oakwell and is considering his options.
"United do confirm that they are currently holding negotiations with Bogdanovic and are moving closer to an agreement."
