German side Fortuna Dusseldorf have taken Middlesbrough's Marvin Emnes on trial.
The 21-year-old forward linked up with the Bundesliga Zwei side last week, and played in two friendly games.
He scored in both games against amateur sides MTV Egerstorf and Preussen Hameln, impressing Fortuna's management team.
Fortuna, who just missed out on promotion to the top-flight, are now considering a deal to take Emnes on loan for the whole of next season.
"Any transfer like this would only be possible on loan terms," Fortuna chief Norbert Meier told Bild.
Emnes joined Boro in 2008 when Gareth Southgate paid Sparta Rotterdam more than £3million for him.
The Dutch Under-21 international has failed to make the expected impact on Teesside and Gordon Strachan is willing to let him leave.
Emnes still has two years left on his contract and Boro look set to let him leave on loan.
