Marcell Jansen remains on course to shake off a foot injury in time to make Germany's World Cup squad.
The Hamburg defender has been named in Joachim Low's 27-man preliminary party despite being sidelined with a slight knock.
He has been out of action since March but is making encouraging progress in his recovery from the problem.
The German Football Federation (DFB) are confident Jansen will be back to full fitness soon and ready to stake a claim for a seat on the plane to South Africa.
"Marcell has made fantastic progress," said Germany's fitness coach Shad Forsythe.
"If he continues like this, he will be fit in time for the tournament."
Jansen, who has not played since 21st March, currently has 30 caps to his name and was part of the German set-up at the 2006 World Cup and Euro 2008.
He has not turned out for his country since August 2009, but a number of impressive outings in the Bundesliga this season have seen him drafted back into the fold.
