Out-of-contract Shrewsbury striker Dave Hibbert has been offered a deal with Peterborough.
The 24-year-old, who scored 14 goals for Shrewsbury this season, was recently offered fresh terms with Town after joining the League Two outfit in 2007.
But Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry has confirmed his recently relegated club are now in negotiations with the highly-rated forward.
"Gary Johnson has got him down as a major target and we've given him until next week to make his mind up," Fry said.
"The talks have gone very well and we hope to hear that he will join us.
"We're hopeful he will sign, but his wife is having a baby and Shrewsbury have made him a very good offer. But he got on well with Gary and I'm confident that if it's a football decision he will join us at Posh."
