Jonny Evans, as expected, has signed a new four-year deal with Manchester United.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed earlier this week the Northern Ireland international was close to pledging his long-term future to the Old Trafford club.
Evans has enjoyed a fine season at United filling in for the injured Rio Ferdinand in a number of games this term.
The 22-year-old is highly-regarded within in the corridors of Old Trafford and he is expected to be a mainstay of the United side in future years.
"Jonny has signed a new deal," confirmed Ferguson.
"We have been working on it for a few months now and I am happy that he has signed it.
"Jonny Evans has played a lot of football this year.
"For a centre-half at 22 years of age to play so many games and show the quality he has, is tremendous."
The news is a boost for United ahead of this weekend's Premier League finale with Stoke as they hope for a Chelsea slip-up at home to Wigan to help them claim their fourth successive title.
