David Moyes is expecting a quiet summer of transfer activity at Goodison Park as he focuses on keeping his best players rather than making too many signings.

The Everton manager is happy with his current squad and is targeting just a couple of new recruits to increase competition for places in the starting XI.

He may also look for further additions as 'back-up' who would provide more strength in depth.

But Moyes admits his main concern is making sure his star performers remain with the Toffees.

"I don't think it will be massively busy this summer," he stated.

"We have said before we might try and bring in one or two players, and we might try to bring in one or two for underneath as back-up as well.

"I don't see an explosion of lots of players arriving. We are more keen on keeping the players here and keeping the strong squad we have got."

Moving along

Steven Pienaar and Jack Rodwell are two players to have been linked with moves away from Everton but Moyes is confident they will stay.

Negotiations between club bosses and the midfield duo are understood to be progressing smoothly.

"I think everything is moving along," said Moyes.

"The chairman and the chief executive will be handling that and hopefully they will be coming to a conclusion sooner rather than later."
