Walsall have allowed Wales defender Rhys Weston to spend two days training with Motherwell this week.
Weston is out of contract at the end of the season and is heading to Scotland in an attempt to impress Well manager Craig Brown.
Saddlers boss Chris Hutchings confirmed he had given permission for Weston to go on trial at Fir Park, but expects the 29-year-old to be back in time for Saturday's League One game against Carlisle United.
"Rhys' wife is from Scotland and he sought my permission to link up with Motherwell for a short trial," Hutchings told the club's official website.
"I gave him permission on that basis, but he will be back training with us before the end of the week."
Weston has made 29 appearances for Walsall this season and has featured over 100 times since joining the club in 2007.
