Portsmouth midfielder Richard Hughes is putting off a hernia operation so he can play in the FA Cup final.
The 30-year-old has been struggling with the hernia problem for some time and has been playing through the pain barrier.
The long-serving star is keen to be available for the Wembley showpiece against Chelsea on 15th May and will delay surgery until the summer.
"We made the decision a couple of weeks back after the semi-final," said Hughes.
"I either had to have the operation then and practically rule myself out for the season or grin and bear it."
