Joe Hart has revealed he feels 'devastated' for Shay Given after the Manchester City No.1 suffered a season-ending injury.
Given had to be replaced in Saturday's goalless draw against Arsenal after dislocating his shoulder and will now see two specialists over the next three days.
Hart, currently on loan at Birmingham from Man City, admits he was upset to see the Irishman pick up such a problem.
"I am devastated for Shay," Hart told Man City's official website. "I texted him on Saturday.
"I do not want that to happen to anyone, especially someone like him - a great keeper and really good person.
"All I can do is wish him a speedy recovery and that he is back between the sticks again as soon as possible."
City are short of cover for their remaining three games and have made a formal request to the Premier League over an emergency goalkeeper loan.
There have been suggestions that Man City could approach Birmingham over bringing Hart back from his season-long loan at St Andrews.
However, they have yet to discuss such a move with Alex McLeish, who maintains that Hart will be seeing out the campaign with Birmingham.
McLeish said: "Joe Hart is staying for the rest of the season. We have had no contact with Manchester City."
