Thomas Sorensen's World Cup hopes remain alive after being told he does not require surgery after dislocating his elbow against Chelsea.
The Denmark international sustained the injury as Salomon Kalou scored the Blues' second in their eventual 7-0 romp over Stoke City.
It had been feared the 33-year-old would miss this year's World Cup finals in South Africa if he needed surgery to repair the problem.
However, Potters boss Tony Pulis has confirmed the ex-Aston Villa and Sunderland shot-stopper does not need to undergo the knife.
"If he had needed an operation, he'd have struggled to make the World Cup, but there is some encouraging news in that it was put back without the need for that," Pulis told the club's official website.
