Germany boss could recall in-form striker for finals

Germany head coach Joachim Low will evaluate striker Kevin Kuranyi's availability over the next two weeks. The Schalke striker has not figured for the national team since leaving the squad during the half-time interval of their World Cup qualifier with Russia in October 2008. However, his fine form at club level has meant growing pressure from the public to recall the Brazil-born striker, who has 19 goals in 52 appearances for his adopted country. Although Low previously insisted he would never rely on Kuranyi at international level again he has confirmed he will assess his form in the coming weeks before deciding his availability ahead of this summer's World Cup finals.

Responsibility

"I am aware of my responsibility as the national team coach," Low told the German Football Association's website. "But we will not let ourselves be affected by public pressure. "We will watch the next few games and make an announcement at the end of April."
