Jonas Gutierrez does not believe Argentina team-mate Lionel Messi would ever be tempted to leave Barcelona for the Premier League.
Messi has established himself as the finest player on the planet over the past 12 months and has produced some particularly dazzling performances in recent weeks.
There would be no shortage of takers should Messi ever become available and Newcastle winger Gutierrez admits his compatriot is interested in English football.
However, Gutierrez maintains that the 22-year-old superstar is fully committed to Barca and is likely to spend his entire career at Camp Nou.
"He asks me about England, but he said he's not going to come because he's at a big club," Gutierrez said in the Sunday Mirror.
"It would be difficult for him to leave Barcelona. I think he is going to finish his career there - he's always said that.
"In Spain, they talk the same language and he's been there since he was very young."
Gutierrez believes Messi would be just as successful in the Premier League as he has been in the Spanish top flight.
He said: "A lot of top English and European clubs would love to have him.
"Messi could do it anywhere, no problem about that.
"But he's at one of the biggest clubs in the world and happy at Barca."
Gutierrez is expected to be named in the Argentina squad for this summer's World Cup and he concedes the presence of Messi gives everyone in the camp a lot of confidence.
"In the last two or three years, Messi's been unbelievable," said Gutierrez.
"He's an important part of our Argentina team. We go to South Africa knowing the best player in the world is in our team."
