Nemanja Vidic has urged Manchester United to stick together to ensure the team's season does not end in bitter disappointment.
Though United have already won the Carling Cup this season, the club are still in contention for the bigger prizes of the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.
However, those ambitions have taken a knock over the past week after a quarter-final first-leg defeat by Bayern Munich preceded a home loss by title rivals Chelsea.
The weekend's 2-1 reverse in the Premier League allowed Chelsea to move back to the top of the table and United are out to avoid a third defeat in a row when Bayern visit Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Vidic acknowledged it has been a tough period for the Red Devils, but has called on his team-mates to rediscover the winning mentality before it is too late.
"I believe and hope we can find some energy," said Vidic. "We need to rediscover that winning mentality.
"We need to stick together and we need to play like a team.
"The last few games have been hard. They have been emotional.
"But we are in this position now and we need to deal with it the best we can."
The performances against Bayern and Chelsea were just as disappointing as the results and Vidic accepts there must be an improvement when the Bundesliga leaders come to town for the second leg.
The Serbian defender added: "We always look to move on.
"We were disappointed with the Bayern game. It wasn't just the result, it was the way we played.
"But in the second half against Chelsea, we showed a bit more courage.
"We pressed the ball higher. We played better than we did in the first. But we still need to improve that final ball."
