Striker would be happy to discuss new contract

Port Vale striker Marc Richards is hoping to hold talks with the club to discuss a new contract with Micky Adams' side. Richards' current deal expires at the end of the season and he is keen to stay after impressing for the League Two club this term. Vale boss Adams assured the 27-year-old in January that he would be offered an extension and discussions have taken place with his agent. The former Barnsley forward is now keen to progress those negotiations and reach an agreement to extend his three-year stint with Vale. "I've always said I'd be delighted to stay if the club could come to me with some sort of agreement," Richards told The Sentinel. "I think there have been initial talks with my agent and the gaffer has said he would like to keep me. "I'll sit down with my agent at the end of the season, but if Vale want to make me an offer in the meantime, then I'd be happy to speak to them."
