James Collins has apologised to Aston Villa's fans following their 7-1 hammering at Chelsea.
Villa had been looking to maintain their push for fourth spot - but instead they suffered their heaviest defeat for nearly 50 years.
And Collins was quick to let the Villa fans know that the display at Stamford Bridge was not good enough.
"So sorry to every Villa fan after that appalling display," he said on his Twitter page.
"I'm embarrassed to call myself a footballer after that rubbish, sorry."
Villa boss Martin O'Neill was equally embarrassed by the performance.
"On that performance we wouldn't finish 44th," he said.
"We were hammered and it's as devastating a result as I've had in the game."
