Newcastle goalkeeper Steve Harper believes 'outstanding' team-mate Andy Carroll has the ability to reach the top level.
Magpies striker Carroll has been hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons this week following an alleged training ground bust-up with Steven Taylor.
But the 21-year-old shrugged off the spotlight to score the winner in Championship table-topping Newcastle's victory over Doncaster on Tuesday.
Harper, who has played alongside the likes of Alan Shearer, has been greatly impressed and thinks Carroll has great potential.
The goalkeeper said: "Andy has scored 16 goals this season, which is fantastic. He has been outstanding.
"Andy could be a top player and has really come on a lot. He works hard on his game and he is really developing."
