Winger receives four-match ban for striking opponent

PSV Eindhoven have accepted the four-match ban imposed on winger Ibrahim Afellay. The Holland international, who is of Moroccan descent, was guilty of striking Ajax's Eyong Enoh in the stomach during PSV's 4-1 defeat at the Amsterdam Arena last weekend. The Dutch Football Association ordered the ban, which includes a one-match conditional suspension, and PSV will not dispute the verdict after studying video footage. The Dutch giants accept Afellay, who has 20 international caps, was in the wrong and fear an appeal against the ban could lead to further punishment. However, PSV are unhappy with the lack of punishment in the direction of Ajax's Enoh, who appeared to provoke Afellay by standing on his foot. A statement on the club's official website read: "PSV accept the settlement proposal because of the unpredictable justice in this case and has no confidence in a possible adaptation of the sentence. "The pictures obviously show the player Enoh was deliberately provocative and put force on the foot of Afellay. "It is understandable that the prosecutor's reaction proved Afellay guilty, but it is incomprehensible that he ignores the provocative criminal behaviour of the player Enoh."
