Sheffield United have signed Paul Connolly on an emergency loan deal from Derby County.
He moves to Bramall Lane on a one-month agreement and goes straight into Kevin Blackwell's squad for Tuesday night's clash with Blackpool.
The 26-year-old full-back has been moved on by the Rams after falling out of favour at Pride Park.
He is, however, a seasoned performer who has captained Derby and made over 170 appearances for former employers Plymouth.
The Blades made their move for Connolly after seeing their defensive options depleted.
Club captain Chris Morgan is set to sit out the midweek clash with the Seasiders after picking up his 10th booking of the season against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday and Blackwell has moved quickly to bring in cover.
