Gordon Strachan has admitted that Willo Flood is unlikely to play for Middlesbrough again this season.

The midfielder suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat at Cardiff earlier this month and the extent of the damage has now been confirmed.

Flood has sustained a small tear in his posterior cruciate ligament and Strachan is resigned to being without him for the remainder of the campaign.

"That's probably the season over for Willo, unfortunately, which is a real shame because he's been fantastic for us since he came here," Strachan told the club's official website.

Flood joined Boro from Celtic in January and has quickly become an integral member of Strachan's side.
