Rangers have confirmed that Madjid Bougherra will miss next week's Scottish League Cup final.
The Gers had hoped the Algerian central defender would be fit to play against Dundee United on Sunday.
But he did not feature in the 3-3 draw, and assistant boss Ally McCoist revealed that Bougherra would be sidelined due to his hamstring problem - which he has aggravated further this week.
"He's out for a few weeks," said McCoist.
"He went for a scan and it's revealed a small tear in the hamstring, which would probably be about three weeks, hopefully less than four.
"It's a blow but other teams have disappointments with injuries and suspensions and we're no different."
It now means that youngster Danny Wilson will continue in central defence and will partner David Weir at Hampden against St Mirren next week.
"Danny Wilson has been fantastic and hopefully he'll be fantastic at this club for many, many years to come," added McCoist.
